1985.
[vancouver]maybe it's because i'm in denial, but usually i feel that i only graduated from university a few years ago...but truth is that i graduated from ubc in 1995.
this fact is being reinforced by the fact our new intern, camille was born in 1985 -- mid 20's, i'm not!

fashion jeans.
[vancouver]...or should i say denim (b/c of the price)! checked out brooklyn in yaletown, and picked up a great pair of these jeans at a great price. never heard of this brand before, but apparently they're handmade and super comfortable.

the quay
[vancouver]last night, our client took us out for dinner to a restaurant that i have not been before, the quay. because we were a party of over 16, the restaurant insisted that we order from a set menu, which to me is kind of confusing since they would have probably made more $$$ if we were ordered a la carte - i mean 16 is not 60. anyways, overall the food and service was very good, and the view from the restaurant was beautiful with all the boats parked out front in the marina.
afterwards, we made our way to bar none, where we took in the great house band (i'm not sure what the name is), playing some great soul classics. there is nothing like listening to live music in an intimate setting like that.

season end.
[vancouver]whoa, just came back from a weekend up at whistler with shawn, ed + bobby. with sunny skies and not a cloud in the sky, the day on blackcomb was epic. i wasn't so used to the snow being so soft, and thus i found it a bit slippery. the other guys have been skiing and riding for years, so i was pretty happy with myself because except for a minor spills, i was able to keep toe to toe with the guys, even when they were going full tilt.
in february, when i was up with aimee, we remarked on how we would like to stay at the pan pacific lodge, which is right at the base of the blackcomb gondola. thanks to ed and his friend scott, we got a sweet hookup with a gorgeous two bedroom suite. with two hot tubs and a pool, we took full advantage of the weather and these amenities. at night, it seemed like the planets were aligned because roger sanchez was spinning at tommy africa's. the room was packed, and a bit too hot (read: sweaty guys touching you in a place with low ceilings -- usually a good thing, but not that night), but it was good to hear some good beats. we ended up heading back to the hotel a bit early, which was a good thing since i was pretty tired from the day.
sunday was spent having brunch in the sun on a patio, a little more of the hot tub/pool action at the hotel, and after a couple of margaritas later on the loho (read: longhorn) patio, we headed back down to van.
ah, the good life -- that's certainly what i had a taste of this weekend. can't wait to go up again next season.

fashion jeans and low carb.
on saturday i went down with vanessa to metrotown (i know, it was gorgeous outside), but i was on the mission for the perfect jean. after trying on like eight million pairs at eight million stores, i realized that it is difficult to find a 'fashion' jean, and a 'fashion' jean that fits you properly that is not over $200. i actually have tried on a couple of diesels, one that was $325, and i'll have to tell you that you that a combination of both fit and quality is key, not price point or brand that determines what looks good, at least on me. however, knock offs (like after a "seven" pair) just don't cut it too. needless to say, i'm still in the hunt.of course hungry shoppers need to eat. it's funny, finding something to eat at a mall foodcourt and watching what you are eating on this diet are in direct conflict. later that evening, on my way to a party in yaletown, i passed this 'low carb' supermarket/store. i think in general we need to learn about moderation, find a happy median between these two options for sure.
